AIRinVET @ SEED Conference

Back to overview

Workshop at the SEED Conference - Valencia, 5th July 2024, 10.45 – 12.45

The AIRinVET partners Berufliche Hochschule Hamburg (BHH) and Katapult teamed up to facilitate a workshop about Research and Innovation Activities in VET. The workshop was entitled Applied and Innovative Research within VET Education for the Energy Transition.

After an icebreaker demonstrating how networks work, a presentation about the AIRinVET project was given. This was complemented by an interdisciplinary presentation by the BHH, which presented one of its best practices in the field of ICT concerning sustainability as a megatrend for VET occupations. After a quick introduction into the challenges of today’s changing working world the presentation put the focus on the field work process analysis in small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). It pointed out that work-process-oriented sustainability training modules, based on professional and personal competences, will be the game changer in the implementation of new technical and vocational requirements into VET occupations without changing an entire job profile.

During the second half of the workshop, the Self-Assessment Tool, based on the four AIRinVET dimensions was tried out in 4 working groups. Each group discussed and scored one dimension:

  • Activities

  • Research and Innovation

  • Impact

  • Governance

The participants were asked to provide their feedback on the tool as well; some very useful feedback was given, suggesting that it might be useful to simplify the tool a little further and adjust the order of the dimensions used:

  1. Impact

  1. Activities

  1. R&I

  1. Governance

This is because it is easier to work on it when the motivation, incentives and desired changes are clear (which will become clear in the discussion that the impact dimension will lead to).

In addition, the participants were extremely interested and very positive about the developments within our AIRinVET project in general and in the Self-Assessment tool specifically.

The workshop got nominated as one as the best shared practices of the SEED conference 2024 - although unfortunately we did not get elected.
