Kick off and mapping approach in Erandio-Bilbao

Back to overview

January 2023
The kick-off meeting of the AIRINVET Applied Research in Vocational Education and Training took place on 29-30 January in Erandio (Basque Country). The meeting was hosted by the project’s coordinator, TKNIKA, the Innovation and applied research Centre of the Basque Country, gathering representatives from the 8 partners (Education providers and associations, Industrial and SMEs Associations) that are members of the consortium.

On the first day, partners had the opportunity to meet in person after the project’s official launch on 1 January 2023.  The project coordinator, TKNIKA, opened the meeting with a revision of the project management guidelines. And the different tools to manage the project were presented.

On the second day, specific sessions were organised;

  • To find the wording that needs a common understanding of the terms related to VET and to applied research.
  • to present the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics Applied Research Affinity group approach to applied research activities carried out by education providers at VET and applied science universities. This will serve as the starting point for the mapping the partnership will carry out.
  • to better understanding how to identify the barriers motivations for applied research between companies and VET providers.
  • And the afternoon was dedicated to know possible approaches to define the AR structure.

The warm atmosphere let out the cold winter during these two days.
