Workshop digital transformation of SMEs in Spain

Back to overview

On Tuesday, July 16, AFM CLUSTER and IMH CAMPUS hosted in Elgoibar a significant day of applied innovation and research. The event brought together various companies from the machining sector and digitalization providers, highlighting the crucial role that Vocational Education and Training (VET) centers like IMH can play in driving industrial digitalization.
AFM Cluster is working diligently on the digitalization of production workshops. This exclusive event, designed for companies with production workshops, provided a platform to share knowledge, practical cases, and networking opportunities with industry experts.
The event began at 9:00 AM with a presentation of the conclusions derived from the diagnosis of over 40 workshops. These conclusions provided a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities workshops face in their digitalization process.

One of the most notable points of the program was the presentation of 12 real use cases, focused on two main themes. The first one was about the data capture in the workshop, process monitoring, and integration into internal management systems (MES, MRP, etc.). The second about digitalization of plant maintenance management.
These use cases were presented by knowledge providers, who shared their experiences and implemented solutions, demonstrating the tangible benefits of digitalization in workshop efficiency and productivity.
In addition to the presentations, the event facilitated B2B meetings, allowing bilateral encounters between attendees and digital transformation experts. These meetings provided a valuable opportunity to discuss specific projects, resolve doubts, and explore potential future collaborations.
As the event host, IMH Campus highlighted the fundamental role that Vocational Education and Training centers can play in the industrial digitalization process. These centers not only offer advanced technical training but also act as innovation catalysts, providing an environment where companies and students can collaborate on real research and development projects.

AIRinVET SPainThe day held at IMH Campus underscored the importance of digitalization in the machining sector and the potential of VET centers to lead this transformation. Collaboration between companies, technology providers, and educational centers is essential to move towards a more efficient and technologically advanced future. Such events not only foster knowledge exchange but also inspire new initiatives and strengthen the industrial community. AIRINVET Project promotes the applied innovation and research through VET centres and this event was a good opportunity to bring SMEs closer to an educational centre and to promote innovation projects.
