The design and production of a tooling for the fins of the active aerodynamics systems

Back to overview

The design and production of a tooling for the fins of the active aerodynamics systems
Within the framework of the growing demand and evolution of the manufacturing processes along with the integration of the innovative technologies of Industry 4.0 into the market, Zulaibar, Basque Country VET Center worked in the design and production of a tooling for the fins of the active aerodynamics systems.

BATZ, a world-class products and services supplier for the automotive sector, had a problem in the fin production line. The positioning system experienced errors due to improper immobilization of the component, leading to inaccurate sensor measurements.

Zulaibar’s TKgune teachers team designed a system that corrected the problem on the manufacturing line, resulting in a new system that guarantees a homogeneous and repetitive position, guaranteeing 100% of the fins' position (design analysis, machining of parts, system assembly). The goal of Zulaibar’s teachers’ team is to develop applied innovation projects with companies to respond to the requirement to bring the teaching staff up to date in terms of science and technology, promoting innovation both in small and medium-sized companies and in vocational training centres.

TKgune is a network comprising vocational training centres that aims to facilitate the bi-directional transfer of knowledge between these centres and companies. In this particular case, the focus is on sharing the expertise gained in the field of Industry 4.0, specifically advanced manufacturing. This dissemination of knowledge enables the continuous updating of teachers and students at the center.
